Stonebridge Legal successfully concludes Inter RAO tariff arbitration against Georgia

The Stonebridge Legal team has successfully represented PJSC Inter RAO in a commercial arbitration under SCC Rules and an investment arbitration under the ICSID Convention against Georgia in connection with an electricity tariff dispute. Both proceedings concluded with arbitral awards ordering the payment of substantial sums to Inter RAO Group. More details about the project were previously covered here.

Our firm’s lawyers successfully defended against attempts to set aside the arbitral awards and initiated court proceedings in several jurisdictions for their recognition and enforcement.

In December 2025, the parties reached a settlement agreement under which Georgia will pay substantial compensation to Inter RAO Group.

“For our team and for the Russian legal market, this is a landmark project. We have successfully protected the interests of a Russian investor in an investment arbitration and achieved not just a favourable award, but also the recovery of substantial compensation. The result reflects years of meticulous work dedicated to our client’s interests,” notes Alexey Yadykin, Partner and Head of Dispute Resolution at Stonebridge Legal.
